On Oprah Today

Lisa Ling Reports: How We Treat the Animals We Eat.

If you don't know anything about the reality of where our food comes from, please check out Oprah today. It is eye-opening, and everyone should make the choice whether to eat mass-produced meats after knowing how it gets to your supermarket.

(And just so you know, I still do eat mass-produced meats, I just try to balance that with trying to make the system better. So I'm not preaching veganism or radical farm protests - unless that's your thing, of course. :))

Dannan will post later today about his afternoon yesterday. First, it's time for us to vote in the Canadian federal election. Thank goodness it's election day! I don't know how you Americans make it through!

Mom and Dad are ready for elections to be over. Mom is thinking about going to rent a ton of videos for the next few weeks so she doesn't have to watch the commercials anymore.

Hey Girly,

Thank dog we are in the UK and are less exposed to all the political shenanigans over there, Mum has voted once in her whole life.. and regretted bothering. She says she will vote when she comes across a politian who she believes and trusts.. so thats never then! My Grandad is appalled that she doesn't vote.. but she has the philosophy that they are all bad in equal measures so the world won'ty fall off its axis if she doesn't vote.. and she will only moan about the one in power as much as she would have if she had voted.. so hey hum!

She called our last leader Tony Bleurgh (it was actually Blair) and calls the current one Gordon Drone (its actually Brown) so I suppose that sums it up really! She asked me to point out that she is equally disdaining of the opposition.. which she thinks makes her fair LOL

We are months behind you guys with Ophra so I won't be tuning in.. but we have a guy here Jamie Oliver who delights in telling us all the stuff we really can't bear to hear about how our meat arrives on our plate. Mum didn't eat meat for 25 years as she has issues with the texture of it (barmy i know!!) she eats a little chicken now and some fish.. but we try to avoid programs that will put her off!!

hugs and snudges to you and Dannan,

Ben xxxx

My wife's been reading about factory farming methods in The Whole Dog Journal (she was saying "Gross" and "That's disgusting" while reading) and wants to switch to grass-fed beef and such. Fortunately that's fairly easy to find in California!

We watch fast food nation and mom would not eat meat for 6 months. She now eats very little and trys to eat only free range chickens that are raised locally here.
