Help!!!!

Help me, my furends!  (Assuming I have any furends left!  After all, it has been eleventy-seven YEARS since That Mean Girl let me post on my bloggy!)

I need somepuppy to call the SPCA, or the police, or 911, or something.  I need to be rescued!  That Mean Girl is neglecting me terribly.  I'm sure that keeping me away from my bloggy and all my furends is a crime, and they would help me.

I know that all of you have been wondering about us, whether we're okay, or even still alive!  Well, we are alive, but obviously all is not well at my house.  That Mean Girl is doing all kinds of other things, and she has some pretty messed up priorities, that much is obvious!

I am doing pretty well other than never being allowed on my own bloggy.  We had some bad thunder for a few weeks, and I was worried about that.  But I'm doing better, especially since it's been a while since we had those awful storms.  Cross your paws that we don't have many more!

I am settling in well at my Nanny and my Papa's house, which seems to be where we'll be living for a while.  All of our stuff is here, so I guess we're staying.  I don't mind, really.  The wind is kind of scary sometimes here, more than at The Roomie's house.  But my Nanny and my Papa have a nice big backyard, and my Nanny puts out a birdie feeder so they come around.  Then I can chase them, which is one of my fave-fur-ite things to do!

My Nanny and my Papa also like to share their foodables with me.  This drives That Mean Girl crazy, because she says that I have to "stay lean, because he only has one front leggie".   I think she is just jealous, because my Nanny and my Papa don't give her foodables.  My Papa always gives me half of his apple.  And lots of other things that That Mean Girl doesn't know about, so I won't write about them here.

They also let me bark more than That Mean Girl does.  Wroo!

I also really wuff to roll on my Papa's bed!  If he doesn't close his bedroom door all the way, I sneak in there and roll.  It is really pawsome!

I don't have much time, since I had to sneak on here when That Mean Girl wasn't paying attention.  It is furry hard to type with my nose, because all the keys on the laptop thingy are so close together.  But I seem to have figured it out okay, so I'll try to sneak on to my bloggy more often.

I guess I better say something about how That Mean Girl is doing.  She has been going to the People V-E-T a lot lately, and she takes a lot of different pills.  (She doesn't even take them with peanut butter, or CheezeWhiz!  She has no idea, really.  It is quite sad.)  She says they are "trying to find a meds combination that works".  I’m sure it would work better if she took them with CheezeWhiz.

She is also doing lots of cheating on me with other doggies.  Evfurry Monday night, she goes away and comes back hours later smelling of puppies.  Can you imagine???  She says she is teaching the puppies’ people how to train them.  A likely story.

She also is doing something with the SPCA shelter doggies and the magic clicky box.  I don’t know why she feels the need to go there to use the magic clicky box, since I’m always ready, willing, and able to let her click it at me and give me treats.  I really don’t understand her.

She spends a LOT of time on this laptop thingy.  She says she is “learning”.  Another likely story.

Anyway, enough about That Mean Girl.  And I think I hear her coming back, so I’d better go lie on the chair Upside Down so she doesn’t suspect anything.

I miss all of you, my furends.  Here’s hoping you’re all still out there somewhere!  And hoping that That Mean Girl gets off the laptop thingy evfurry once in a while, so I can sneak on here and post!

WROO!

A furry good idea!

Oh my Dogness, furends, you would not believe the HBO words that have been flying around here! The Girl is having bloggy problems, so bear with us, please.

Our good furends from The Thundering Herd have had a pawsome idea! On our last post, they commented, "We think posting a daily picture of you would be a great part of the healing process!"

(Now, The Girl has some weird infatuation with Rusty, so she's pretty sure this was his idea. I'm not so sure - sorry, Rusty, no offence - but whoever thought of it, it's super!)

We're going to do our best to post a picture of me evfurry day! Some days there might not be much writing, but The Girl and I both agree that trying to do even a really short post is a good way to work on getting back into the swing of things.

Today's picture is a bit dated, since it's from The Girl's cell phone. (She says to please ignore all the fluff and stuff on the couch cushion!) This picture is the wallpaper on Girlie's cell phone, and people always ask her if the picture is upside down. Ha ha, it really is ME that is Upside Down! Wroo!

Featured blog for February at DWB!!!

Wroooooooooo!!!! Congratulations to our furends Gus and Louie and Callie, those Three Happy Heelers! They were chosen by DWB'ers to receive the Awesome Blog award over at Dogs With Blogs, and they're featured on the front page of the site! We wuff their bloggy, especially when they get to go herding! Brown dog wags to you three!

We were the runner-up, and brown dog love to all of you who voted for us! Also to all of our other furends - we know it was a tough choice this month, so many great bloggies were nominated! So The Little Brown Dog's Blog is DWB's Featured Blog for February! I can't express how happy we are, so check me out:

The Girl says excuse the lint on the couch cushion. I say, Girlie, my furends aren't going to be fooled, this is an old picture! My more observant readers may notice that this is my old collar. The Girl has been too busy to take a single picture of me! She has been most disappointing of late, though she thanks all of you who have commented about her work for the SPCA being important and that it's okay that we're MIA lately. The more she gets into it, the more work she finds to do. I'm all for helping other doggies and kitties and hammies and bunnies and all, but what about ME??? She doesn't even take me to the shelter with her, cuz she says that I mark everywhere and need too much supervision. Excuse me, but hasn't she SMELLED that place?!? Wroo!

I wanted to send another big thank wroo to our Relentlessly Huge furend, Mango, who nominated us for the Awesome Blog award over at DWB! We'll soon get our Featured Bloggie graphic, and I'll make The Girl post it right away! Right, Girlie? Right!

Mango is also hosting a really pawsome event over on his bloggy, so go over and find out about Mango-Minster! Better hurry, the deadline to enter is noon on Sunday, February 9th! (There's a link to the rules in his sidebar over on the left-hand side.) You'll find me over in the Hound group, competing for fame and fortune! (Well, fame, anyway!)

We also owe Mango thanks for coming over to our bloggy and commenting so that we found out about Mango-Minster in time! We almost missed out, and that would have been terrible. So far, I've worked Girlie's guilt to get a walkie and some parmesan cheese cookies! I think we might also visit some of our furends this weekend! We're going to read as much as we can, and we'll try to comment at least once so you know we've been by!

Our next post is going to be about an award given to us by another one of our furry good furends, Biggie Z! Thanks to Biggie for letting us know in our comments that we had an award waiting over at his place! It is going to be a lot of fun, so The Girl and I are both looking forward to that post.

It has been furry nice and warm at Nanny and Papa's house the last couple of days. I have been lying on their back step on a fuzzy blankie and surveying my domain, basking in the sun. I'd love to show you some pictures of that, but THERE ARE NO NEW PICTURES! I've guilted Girlie into a lot of good stuff today, but I might be pushing my luck to demand a photo shoot. We'll have to see.

Wroo, evfurrybody!!!!!

Christmas Day!

Wroooooooooooooo and Merry Christmas! Dannan here, blogging from Nanny and Papa's house! We've been here since Tuesday, and we'll go home sometime this weekend, I think.

I got a new toy, Mr. Santa Head. Check out the action shots that The Girl took!

Then, while I was having fun with Mr. Santa Head, The Girl opened a gift with a pretty scarf in it. She asked me if I wanted to pose in the scarf; we settled on this compromise:

Wroo, a pretty handsome picture, if I do say so myself!

Then, of course, I had to go Upside Down.

They have snow here, too, just like we do at home! (The Girl notes that we only live fifteen minutes away.) The Girl shoveled out a little area for me to do my business. I also bounded through the snow in quite a few places, because she was too lazy to shovel paths for me. It's been a bit warmer today (only -4 or so Celsius), so I've been able to do a little running.

Dannan, faster than a speeding bullet! BOL, at least faster than a Girlie can take a picture!

Upside down, getting Nanny scratches! (Blurry, sorry!)

At Nanny and Papa's house, I can see out the front picture window and watch all the goings-on on the street. (As I've said before, I can't see out of our windows at home, because they are Min Pin proofed so they won't go bonkers when someone goes by.)

I got a whole bunch of presents, too!

This is from my Auntie S.

A package of Busy Bones from Santa...

Some parmesan cheese cookies from The Girl...

Skunk, from Nanny... he has a squeeker, and he also has crinkly bits in his arms and leggies!

A new coat, from The Girl. I don't know why she gave me a new coat, I hate my OLD coat! (The Girl: The old coat has velcro fasteners, and he's scared of the sound of them ripping apart. I haven't gotten around to replacing the velcro with snaps, so he got a new coat that pulls over. It's actually a hoodie! He looks like quite the rock star in it... I'll get a picture next time I put it on him.)

This is Mr. Santa Head, also from Nanny. He is missing the pompom on his hat (which The Girl cut off anyway), because I already pulled it off. He's a pretty fun guy.

I pose with all the Christmas loot...

The Girl begged and pleaded, and pleaded and begged, so I gave her a good shot...

The Girl also says that she got me a new laser pointer but forgot to give it to me. I say, show me the toy, Girlie! Then I'll believe it!

More fun with Mr. Santa Head... I am too fast for film!

The Girl says we are going to try to get a picture of the two of us together later on tonight. We don't have any pictures like that, so it would be nice if she had to pose for a change!

Oh, and I was going to mention that our Christmas card image is not the product of magic by The Girl. She didn't make my head go into the ornaments; it's a website called Photofunia. Please! The Girl can hardly use Photoshop to crop, never mind this kind of skillful art! Wroo! It's a fun site, so check it out when you have time.

Anywroo, I hope all of my furends are having a wonderful day, whether they celebrate Christmas or not. Hope you're all getting lots of cuddles and treats, and that your people (or Santa Paws!) got you some fun new toys! Furends, we love you all and are thinking of you today!

The Girl came back...

(Note from The Girl: Grrrrr. We wrote this post yesterday, and thought that it had published! Just now, I found out that it didn't. Sorry, PuppyBoy!)

Wroooooooo!!!! The Girl came home! She picked me up at Nanny and Papa's house on Thursday night. When she let herself in, I woofed at her, like she was some stranger, BOL! Then I roared around the corner and just about wagged my tail off, I was so happy!

The Girl didn't stay long, because the Roomie was waiting in the car. Once we got home, I remembered that I was MAD at her because she had ABANDONED me. I ignored her the rest of the evening, and then stayed in my doggie bed ALL NIGHT (instead of joining her in the Big Bed for the second half of the night). I wouldn't tell her ANYTHING about my stay with Nanny and Papa.

There are no pictures, either, because The Girl took the camera with her to Vancouver. Don't you think that she would rather have pictures of what I was doing while I was ABANDONED rather than pictures of Great Big Sea? (That's her favourite band, by the way.)

So, since there are no pictures of my actual visit, here are some from previous ones:

Even though I'm staying mum about what I did, The Girl knows that at some point, I went Upside Down. Nanny is a very good belly scratcher.

I also like to lie like this on their couch. It's got this great bumpy thing with the cushions, and it makes a great chin rest.

This is the backyard at Nanny and Papa's house. They put the fence up just for me, you know.

And, at some point, I probably went Upside Down again. That couch is the best!

So I'm not telling what happened, but Nanny had to tell her something. I've never been ABANDONED anywhere but at home with the Roomie before. So I was a little sad when she left.

(The Girl here. No doubt the treat fest started the minute I was out the door. Nanny gives him really tasty treats.)

I didn't want to sleep in my doggie bed, even though The Girl had brought it over with me. I wanted to sleep with Nanny, but she said I am too noisy. I don't know what she's talking about. I just wanted to sleep!

(The Girl again. Dannan truly is the noisiest sleeping dog I have ever encountered. He moans and groans. And groans and moans. Then when he's dreaming, he puffs his cheeks in and out and in and out. Then he barks, kind of a muffled bark because he keeps his mouth closed and it kind of comes from his throat. Sometimes, he growls. I always wonder what he dreams about. Anyway, the point is, he's noisy. My Mom is a very light sleeper, so she didn't want him waking her up all night just as she got to sleep. And then, of course, halfway through the night he'd decide he was cold and jump up on her bed to cuddle up and get warm.)

So Nanny said that I could sleep wherever I wanted, even on the couch! (At home, I get locked in the bedroom with The Girl. She says it's so the cats can have some peace.) I stayed up with my Papa while he watched late night t.v. When he was ready for bed, he didn't want to turn the light off in case it woke me up, so he left it on.

Nanny got up not long after that and thought that I was cold. So she wrapped me up in a fleece blankie, and I just cuddled down on the couch. I never, ever let The Girl put covers on me! But I let my Nanny!

The next day, I got to chase a CAT in Nanny's backyard! She says that if I catch a cat in her backyard, I can keep it! I spent most of the day out patrolling her backyard and surveying it from her back step. By the way, Girlie, why don't you put out a pile of blankets for me in our backyard? That was really nice at Nanny's.

The only treat that I got while I was there was a bit of Papa's apple. I was a Very Good Dawg and waited to be told "okay" before I took my piece from his fingers. (The Girl here, we've been working on not being grabby. And I'm sure that was FAR from his ONLY treat! That's just the only treat that my Mom confessed to giving him!)

Anywroo, I guess if I have to be ABANDONED, and I can't stay at my own house, Nanny and Papa's house isn't such a bad place. IF, that is, I have to be ABANDONED, which is something that should never happen again.

The Girl even went to Petsmart while she was in Vancouver, and she saw something that she thinks is maybe what Daisy is talking about when she tells us about her favourite chicken strips. But did she bring me any? NOOOOOOOOOO! All she bought were clickers. She says she likes to have extra ones. Meanie.

(Once again, The Girl here. He also got this really cool laser light thingy that clips onto his collar, so he can chase the laser light until he goes silly from it, but he doesn't have it yet.)

I wuff my Nanny and my Papa, but I really don't like to be anywhere without The Girl. She says that I'm spoiled. But I say, well who's fault is that, then? And she sighs, because she knows I'm right.

Moral of the story: If you have to be ABANDONED like I was, make sure you go someplace where you won't be spoiled a bit! Wrooooooooo!!!

(Final note from The Girl: Although my Mom didn't confess to giving him a bunch of treats, I know that she and my Dad give him a ton of them right in front of me. So I'm pretty sure he ate his weight in people food while I was gone. And it sounds like he had a pretty good time, for an abandoned dog!)

My first snail mail Christmas Card, and The Snow is All My Fault

Wroooooooo, efurrybody! Hope all my American furends had a wonderful Thanksgiving with lots of eatables! The Girl said that the reason we had no turkey yesterday is that we celebrated Thanksgiving in October. I fail to see what that has to do with anything! We still could have had turkey!!

I got my furst Christmas card in the snail mail! It is from Simba. I was so ecstatic that I had to go Upside Down!

Please ignore the hooman leg and slipper at the bottom. The Girl says she's done enough secretary stuff for me today, and she refused to do any photo-editing. I am skeptical of this, however. The secretary stuff she did for me earlier today was stuff she had PROMISED to have done by Tuesday - writing on and addressing my snail mail Christmas cards! She FINALLY got them done today, and will mail them tomorrow. TOMORROW, Girlie!

I also got quite a few e-cards, which I will bark about in my next post. Hopefully tomorrow.

In other news, it is all my fault that it has been snowing since this morning. It was snowing when we got up at 7:00 am, and it is STILL snowing! That's NINE straight hours of snow! Very unusual for here.

The reason (The Girl) says it's my fault is because I just commented on Bolo's bloggy yesterday that we didn't have any snow. She likes the snow, but really hates how people drive in it. And she hates shovelling it, too. So she likes winters that are not snowy. Except for Christmas. She likes a White Christmas.

I, on the other hand, was SO EXCITED that I ran back and forth (like a maniac, according to The Girl) and back and forth and back and forth! I made The Girl take pictures.

Here's me on the way out...

And on the way back in....

Back out...

And me and Lexi on the way back in again. (Well, all you can see is my tail. The Girl sometimes misses the picture she thinks she's going to take.)

Khavana is the worst couch potato you can imagine. She didn't come out with us. She never does! She only wants to go outside first thing in the morning, and right after supper. She totally misses out.

Once I had done my running (I always have to race back and forth, and back and forth when I'm excited!), I stopped to smell the snow.

And then we have the series of pictures where The Girl was trying to get a shot of me covered in snow...

We didn't stay out long enough for me to get really snowy, though. The Girl picked up our newspapers, and we went back inside.

I have the feeling that there was something I was going to mention in this post, but I can't seem to remember it. My memory is becoming as bad as The Girl's! BOL!

The Girl is going to Vancouver for a furry quick trip on Wednesday. I told her that she should visit Sparky and Lizzie, but she says she doesn't think there will be time. She and The Roomie are going to a Great Big Sea concert on Wednesday night, and coming back the next day. I am going to stay with my Nanny and Papa overnight. I've never done that before, so I'm a little nervous. So is The Girl. She is really such a big softy. Always before, I've stayed with The Roomie when The Girl has gone out of town. But I guess I can't do that this time, since The Roomie is going, too!

So far, the plan for the weekend is for The Girl and I to go over to Nanny and Papa's for Saturday and Sunday night. The Girl has to work at the SPCA Craft Fair on Sunday, so she thought staying with them while she was gone would be a good way to ease into things. But she keeps looking out the window at the snow, and saying things like, it better stop soon! We have had a little snow once earlier this winter, but it was melted by noon. The Girl says hoomans drive really dumb during the first big snowfall. I think she's trying to get out of going to mail my Christmas cards.

There doesn't seem to be turkey again tonight. I am disappointed, because I made it clear yesterday that we can have turkey when it's not Thanksgiving! If The Girl leaves the house tomorrow, I'll tell her to stop at the grocery store and get some!

I'm ba-ack!

Wrooo, everypup. Now I'm making progress - I've gotten The Girl to do blogging two days in a row! We're working on getting back to every day.

Anywoo, I have exciting news! Scooter (and Sunny, we're sure!) gave us an award! Scooter did a little something different, and we got to choose the award we wanted. So we chose the You Lift My Spirit Award, because reading their blog always lifts our spirits!

The Girl and I are so far behind on our blogging, so here's what we're gonna do. This award is given to any of our readers who could use a little lifting of their own spirits. Please take it with our love!

If you saw my second post yesterday, then you saw me in a state that hardly ever happens... I was NAKED!!! Here's another picture of me in all my naked glory:

Don't I look happy? I really hate having to wear a collar. Really, really, REALLY hate it. I scratch at it, I shake my head, I scratch at it again. The Girl knows I hate having one on, but she makes me wear one all the time. She is paranoid about me getting lost and if I'm not wearing my collar, it will take longer for people to know where my home is. I do have a tattoo in my ear, but my collar has a tag with my phone number on it. So she says I have to wear it. Even though I hate it.

But I got to be NAKED for a few minutes yesterday! Then the worst thing happened: The Girl put a NEW collar on me! It's about twice as wide as my old collar, and I hate it, hate it, hate it. The Girl says that I look very handsome, and that Lucky Fiona did a great job on the new collar and leash. Hmmmpphhh. As if I need a collar to make me look handsome! But I do have to admit that the new pattern is particularly stunning against my chocolate fur.

Ahem. There were actually two collars in the package for me; only one has a matching leash, though. Here is the one without the matching leash:

I am looking up at the treat she is trying to bribe me with.

Not impressed. This collar is also wide, and I also hate it. And I was NOT into posing yesterday! But The Girl says that she really likes this one, too, because it's very fun. Huh, I didn't think it was much fun. I even went Upside Down to try to convince her to take it off me:

(The Girl here. Isn't this a fun pattern? Lucky Fiona did a super job! The name of the pattern isn't on her site anymore, so I can't tell you what it is.)

Then, she took the collar off of me! I thought that she'd finally come to her senses, but NO! She put another new collar on my neck! I am NOT impressed...

The Girl says this is the Poindexter pattern. Whatever that means. She adores this collar, which has a matching leash.

Now she is bribing me to pose.

All right, all right. Here's the shot...

Then, just when I thought it was all over, we went outside. Which I normally love, but The Girl snapped my new leash on to my new collar, and she wanted me to pose AGAIN. She has to bribe me. No poses unless you bribe me.

Well okay then! That's more like it!

I AM quite handsome in this pattern, aren't I?

So those were yesterday's adventures. So far today, there has been no sign of new collars. Although I'm still wearing the Poindexter. Sigh.
