Honesties! For real! (edited)

Our wonderful Kuvasz furend Biggie Z presented us with the Honest Weblog Award! Thanks, Biggie! It's an honour!

The rules:"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.

Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on! "

Well, Biggie is a very honest guy. His bloggy is a great place to go to read about WTFs. No, not Wire Fox Terrors, the other WTFs. People who are clueless about doggies, and his encounters with them. You should go read his posts about them; you’ll completely know what he’s talking about! He and his Momma also do lots of educational stuff, like about raw diets and socialization and training. Check them out!

Edited to add: We tagged Daisy and Dozer at the end of this bloggy post, but it turns out they had both already received the award and passed it on to me! Thank wroo, my furends! You've gotta go see Daisy and Dozer, I wuff them so much! You will, too, I just know it! Daisy is the sweetest doggy I know, and Dozer is furry funny! And like I wrote (will write?) down below, they are totally twins!

So I have to list at least ten honest things about myself. Hmm, that shouldn’t be too hard. Biggie did a whole theme thing about his raw diet, but I think I’ll just go general. I’ll try to come up with new honesties about myself, too.

  1. I love to eat cat poop. And even sometimes Min Pin poop, when their raw food is particularly tasty. (Lexi gets al-er-Gs, so the ingredients sometimes change.)

  1. I have trouble emptying my anal glands. (TMI? Oh well! It’s honest, that’s for sure!) My Trisha at the groomer’s usually empties them for me every second month or so. The Girl is giving me pumpkin now, in hopes of tightening up my - ahem - poop. She’s also heard that raw diets help, but I haven’t quite convinced her yet that she needs to start feeding me raw.

  1. I go on the offensive when I’m face-to-face with doggies that are bigger than I am. Girlie says she doesn’t know if I do this because I live with little Min Pins or because I think I’m at as disadvantage due to my three leggy-edness. Actually, it is because I just want to show evfurrybody that I am not to be taken lightly. I’m a bad-a$$, you know.

  1. I have a huge crush on Stella. (Not news, but how can I leave it out? Kisses to you, Stella!)

  1. I am a good chewer when it comes to food. The Girl gave me some leftover green peas last night, and I chewed each pea!

  1. I am a lot smarter than (some) people give me credit for. When we first got over to Nanny and Papa’s house, they spoiled me with treats all the time. I totally convinced them that I was absolutely STARVING, and for about a week, I was able to con them out of food anytime I wanted. The Girl discovered the dozens of extra foodables I was conning, and she put a stop to it. Mean Girlie!

  1. I am the bag inspector wherever I happen to be. Any bags coming into the house must be inspected by me for contraband. Especially foodable bags. Once, I even stole a marrow bone out of a foodable bag.

  1. The Girl thinks that I am not very sly. When I stole the marrow bone, I gave it up right away when The Girl told me to. I didn’t try to hide with it, like some Min Pins I know (Lexi, I’m looking at you!) And there have been other things I’ve - ahem - appropriated for myself that I’ve taken right to The Girl. Not sly at all, she says. But then again, I’ve trained Girlie that when I get something I’m not supposed to have, she has to give me a tasty treat in exchange for the forbidden object. She just has no idea of the level on which I work!

  1. I sometimes try to creep up on the cats. I think I’m totally stealth. (Girlie here. He is stealth, but only in his own mind! Because of his three-leggedness, it’s not very inconspicuous. He moves like the wind when he runs, but when he’s going slow, it’s not so smooth. Hop, hop, hop!)

  1. I am the world’s best seat stealer. Whenever anybody gets up off of a chair or the couch, I am in their spot like lightning! I especially love to steal the Roomie’s spot! Papa’s spot is also fun to steal. The Girl makes me move if I steal her spot, but Nanny always lets me stay where I am – she’s the one that moves! Wroo!

Those are some (hopefully) new things about me! I am going to tag Daisy and Dozer with this one; they are totally twins, check them out!

Make sure you get over to the Mango's bloggy! He's hosting Mango-Minster this week, and evfurrybody can put in their own vote for which doggy they want to win! Today's the Hound group, wroo!

* * * * *

We have an exciting post coming up later in the week! I got some mail today, and once The Girl gets the batteries changed in the camera (don't laugh, it takes furEVER!), we'll take some pictures and a video. And I'll do a little review on what's inside the package!

Lots of stuff to tell you!

Wrooooooooo, furends! OMDOG, I had SO much FUN last night! The Girl isn't sure exactly what happened, and I'm not telling. The things that are known are: The Girl was downstairs and the Roomie was either in the bathroom or her bedroom. I was left unsupervised in the living room, with the Min Pins and the CATS!

All of a sudden, there was a great clatter, and I was wroooooo-ing my cat serenade. The Pins were barking, and the Roomie ran into the living room. She found me (and Cleo) in the corner; I had Cleo pinned down behind a dining room chair and the big indoor house tree. The Pins were going crazy and I was having the MOST FUN EVER!

The Roomie had a very hard time grabbing my collar, because I was using EVASIVE MANOUVERS. I tromped on her toe for good measure, buying myself more time for FUN!

The Roomie had just captured me and was dragging me to the stairs. The Girl came up the stairs and ordered me down into our bedroom. She followed me, and locked me in. She said I was in EXILE. (At least she was in there with me.) The Pins kept barking, and every time I heard a sound from upstairs, I had to wroooooooooo or make my grumpy sound. And jump up against the door to try to get out. I don't understand why sometimes I can push the door with my nose and it opens, and other times it just seems to be shut even more.

After about an hour, I was still totally vigilant, totally ready to leap to the door at the slightest sound. The Girl made me stay in the room ALONE while she went upstairs to make sure evfurrybody up there was okay.

Lo and behold, the Roomie was on the floor, trying to coax Hailey out from under the couch. Sometime during the seconds when I was totally unsupervised, she got off the scratching post, too, only she went for the bunker under the couch. The Girl and the Roomie suspect that one or the other of the cats (or both) forgot I was in the room and started down off the scratching post. I noticed and it was GAME ON!

Anyway, eventually Hailey came out from under the couch. The Pins has been locked in the Roomie's bedroom while the Roomie worked on Hailey, and they got let out. I, on the other hand, remained in EXILE.

The only injury during the incident was to the Roomie's toe. Sorry, Roomie!

I had the BEST TIME! OMDOG, it was so fun! Unfortunately, neither the Roomie nor The Girl had the presence of mind to take pictures, so you'll just have to imagine the glory of it all. To help you, here are some pictures to remind you what Hailey and Cleo look like.

This is what they usually look like, perched up on the ceiling-high scratching post. The orange and white cat is Cleo, and the grey and orange one is Hailey.

This is how the cats look when they are heading on off the post. This is a picture of Hailey from a long time ago.

Anywroo, it was a MOST exciting evening!!!

In other news, I have received many compliments on the picture that used to be my header, the one where I have an Elvis sneer. Stella even asked me to ask The Girl to put it back up! Well, she didn't do that yet, but she played around and created a new picture, especially for you, Stella!!!

BOL, isn't it great?!

Today, it was warmer outside (only -3), so I was allowed to stay outside for a little bit. I heard our teenaged neighbours, and I raced to the back of the yard, barking my little brown head off! Their black Lab and I ran the fences and barked at each other (it's been so long since we've even seen each other!), and I bounded through the snow like some kind of deer, The Girl says. Of course, she didn't get pictures of that, either. Sigh.

The Girl is going to make me a compromise, she says. The longer she procrastinates about us visiting evfurrybody's bloggies, the more and more entries there are, and the behinder and behinder we get. So, after a very FEEBLE attempt on the weekend to catch up, she has decided that we will start reading evfurrybody's most recent posts, and then if "we" have time, we might catch up on the ones we missed.

I, for one, don't know how this is a compromise! There was no negotiation whatsoever. I think this is more of an executive decision by the one with hands than a compromise. But until I figure out a way to work the pooter on my own, I guess I have to accept it. Wroo. See you all soon, I'll be the doggy who has no idea what's going on with my furends.

Award! and a Meme!

Wroooooooo! I have so much to write about, but The Girl says that we're going to start with the award that my very good furend Daisy gave me:

We love you too, Daisy!!!

Daisy also tagged us for a meme! (Have I mentioned that I wuff Daisy???) So did Dozer and the Canine Mafioso! (Did you know that the Mafioso have a new blog? Their old one died, so click on their name to see their new home!)

My 8 favorite foods:
  1. My bedtime chewies (DentaStix and Omega-3)
  2. Apples
  3. Cheese (except for cheese slices, which I only get when I go to the groomer's to get my nails cut)
  4. Yogurt
  5. Meat, meat, meat!
  6. Anything that the Min Pins are getting
  7. Beef bones
  8. Rice

8 Things I did today:

  1. Woke The Girl up at 4:58 a.m., because we were awake then yesterday, too.
  2. Let The Girl go back to sleep.
  3. Stared at The Girl to make her crazy.
  4. Wrooooooooed at The Girl because she just doesn't listen.
  5. Had some apple.
  6. Ignored everyone and hung out downstairs in my bedroom.
  7. Sniffed Lexi's head and butt.
  8. Was told that I Cannot Have A Cat.

8 Favorite Stores:

  1. Hmmm. I don't get to go into many stores. I've been in Petcetera a few times, but The Girl says that I mark too much when I'm in a pet store so I haven't been there lately.
  2. I do get to sometimes guard the car while The Girl goes into stores. I don't really like to be left behind, though. Unless I get a good treat.
  3. I like to examine the bags that come from stores, to see if they contain contraband. Or something really good. (This isn't really about my favourite stores, but I'm going with it.)
  4. The Girl says that all of our eatables come from a grocery store. So I think that must be a pretty good store, filled with all those eatables!
  5. I can't think of anything else that has to do with stores, so I'll stop here.

8 Restaurants:

  1. I have never been to a restaurant. They don't let doggies into the ones where we live. But I have been through fast food drive thrus, and sometimes they will give me a cookie!

8 Things I look Forward To:

  1. Eating
  2. Cuddling with The Girl
  3. Visiting Nanny and Papa
  4. Going to the dog park (hint, hint, Girlie!)
  5. Going for a walk (another hint! Do I really need to wrooooooooooo???)
  6. Sneak attacks to kiss the Roomie's face
  7. The Girl coming home after she abandons me
  8. Chasing the laser light

8 Things I Like To Do With Family:

  1. Cuddle
  2. Eat
  3. Play chase
  4. Play tug with stuffies, then de-stuff them!
  5. Charm them and make them love me!
  6. Get belly rubs
  7. Have my Spot scratched (on my back right above my tail)
  8. Wrooooo.

8 Things on My Wish List:

  1. As many apples as I can eat.
  2. A new squirrel stuffy.
  3. A cat of my very own.
  4. To never be abandoned again.
  5. Thumbs, so I don't have to depend on undependable people to help me blog.
  6. Finding a furend that will play chase with me all the time.
  7. Homes for all the furries in the world.
  8. A cat of my very own. Or two. Or more.

8 Buddies I’m Tagging with the meme:

  1. I haven't been able to keep up with all my bloggy furends in the last few days, so I don't know who's done this yet. So I'll tag evfurrybody who wants to do it!

The Girl says she needs a break, what a lazy thing! We'll be back soon to tell you all about ABANDONMENT and Nanny and Papa's!

Wow! Lookit all the cards!

Wroooooooooooo! It's me, Dannan! Guess what we found in the mailbox today... HOLIDAY CARDS!!! Four of them!!! (The Girl doesn't have any, yet!) The Girl took pictures after we opened them, but she's in a bit of a rush today, trying to get ready to ABANDON me.

She said we could do a quick post, just to let evfurrybody know that we have received cards in the snail mail, and a TON of e-cards! The Girl hasn't had time (she says) to look at them all, so on the weekend, we're going to do a massive Holiday Card post.

The snow is all gone. It was very sunny today, but the wind was really cold! We took some pictures outside this afternoon when The Girl came home, but she says she's too busy to deal with them right now. You know, because she's getting ready to ABANDON me.

I also wanted to CONGRATULATE the winner of Bolo's Nosevember Competition - my good furend Eduardo the Snuggle Puggle!! Eduardo, you are pawsome! And Bolo and his Mom did such a great job putting together a really fun contest, so thanks to them, too! We didn't do so well at recognizing our furends' noses, and we're really sorry about that! If you catch me staring hard at you, I'm trying to memorize your features better!

Well, The Girl says she needs to go pack. To ABANDON me. She's going to Vancouver tomorrow morning, and will be back Thursday night. And I have to go to my Nanny and Papa's house. (We didn't make it there this weekend, so I haven't even had a dry run.) The Girl has gone away before, but I've always stayed at home with my Roomie and my Min Pins and my cats and my bed and all my stuff. But the Roomie is going with her, so I can't stay home. (The Roomie's dad will come over to look after the Pins and the cats, but The Girl thinks I will be happier to be at Nanny and Papa's, where they will be with me the whole time.)

I sure hope Nanny and Papa give me lots of treats and belly rubs so that I don't feel so bad and sad and lonely. The Girl keeps a pretty close watch on Papa when we visit, because he always wants to give me LOTS of eatables. The Girl lets me have a taste of most of her eatables, but it's always a really tiny taste. Microscopic sometimes. For instance, if I get a taste of her carrot muffin, it's always just a tiny crumb. Like half the size of her pinky finger. Or even smaller! But Papa thinks that I should get half of the muffin. So The Girl keeps an eye on him. I'm supposed to stay very lean because of my missing leggy, so I'm not supposed to get lots of eatables other than my kibble. I'm hoping for a bonanza at their house, though. If she's doesn't want that to happen, then she shouldn't ABANDON me. I know you all agree with me.

About ten days ago, The Girl and I went for a walk, and we got lots of pictures. The Girl has a whole post planned with them (jeepers, Girlie, it's going to be spring before you actually do it!), but she said I could post two of them. So here I am, checking my pee mail...

And here's another picture of me in the leaves. Can you find me? BOL!

I don't imagine that I'll get a chance to post again until Fur-eye-day. So have a good couple of days, doggies and kitties, and I'll tell you then about my ABANDONMENT. (And massive amount of eatables, I hope!)

Happy Halloween!

Wrooo, it's Dannan! Today is Halloween, which is awful. I hate Halloween, and it's not cuz The Girl dresses me up (she doesn't). It's the fireworks! Where we live, any human with the money can buy them, and they are completely unregulated. So Canada Day and Halloween are really terrible times.

I am scared by fireworks. The bangs they make are scary, and I get very worried. Fortunately, The Girl seems to feel the same way about them, because on Halloween, we go into the basement, turn the tv up loud, and turn on the white noise machine. Oh, and I get some magic potion, which makes me a bit less worried. (The Girl: Translation - Rescue Remedy. Vital to all fireworky occasions.)

We don't let trick-or-treaters into our yard on Halloween either. The Min Pins bark enough with them just passing on the street. So we lock the gate into our yard (you have to go through the gate to get to our door), turn off the lights, and eat the candy ourselves. Well, The Girl and The Roomie eat the candy. None of us furbabies are allowed candy.

But I am allowed to have yogurt! I wuff yogurt! Today, I give to you Part 2 in the NOM! series (Part 1 - Peanut Butter Noms is here):

Here I have to break out the Laser Beam Eyes, because I sense the yogurt is running out!

Be safe today and tonight, everypup and kitty. I know it can be scary, but stay at home with your people! Don't go running, even if you are scared or startled by what's happening. And just say NO to costumes! BOL!

Min Pin Monday, for one week only!

Hi, everypuppy and kitty. I am allowing The Girl to post pictures of the Min Pins today. But they are NOT writing the entry, and they are also NOT getting a regular feature! Just so we're all clear that this is out of the goodness of my heart, never to be repeated!

Lexi and Khavana sometimes sleep touching each other. Most of the time, though, they have standoffs. Three years in, and they still haven't worked out who's the boss. Of them. I, of course, am the boss of everyone. (The Girl - Keep dreamin', bud!)

Min Pin destruction.

Butt sniffing. Very popular at our house. Probably also at yours.

Khavana doesn't fit under the couch very well, but she does try! Note the Min Pin destruction of the couch liner.

This is Lexi, apparently forgetting what breed she is.

According to Lexi, the best thing about outside is hunting for bugs and other eatables. This is what she does outside.

Lexi is a wimpy dog who has to wear a coat. (The Girl - Lexi gets very cold very easily. Her fur isn't very thick. She spends a lot of time lying on the furnace vent in the winter.)

This is the Brat lying in MY DOG BED.

And this is a picture of Lexi as a pup. Funny looking little thing, don'tcha think?

As mentioned above, there will be no more Min Pin Mondays. Just all Dannan, all the time!

(The Girl - We might find room for the odd post about the Min Pins. Don't tell Dannan!

Also, thanks again to everyone for your good thoughts about The Roomie's brother. We'll know more about his condition tonight.)

couch monster

Hello again, everypuppy! I'm getting to post all the time lately!

After much thinking, and some advice from my good fur-end Sunny, my swollen head has gone back to it's normal size. Being featured on the Biscuit Fund website hasn't really changed my life, except that The Girl keeps telling me that I can't have bodyguards. Well, everydoggie, there's been no need for that, actually. No pupperazzi, no autograph hounds, no stalkers peering through the fence. My brush with fame was heady, but I'm back down to earth now. Thanks for putting up with the big head!

Actually, I could have used a bodyguard the other night. The Girl took some pictures of me being EATEN!

There I was, minding my own pup-ness, having a dognap, when all of a sudden I noticed that I was being swallowed by the couch!

You can see the alarm in my eyes!

Resigned to being eaten by the couch. Sigh, nobody's running to the rescue. The Girl is just flashing that stupid silver box at me. Where are the bodyguards when I need them?

This one is really blurry, but I think it captures the BEING EATEN part pretty

well.

You can see I'm hanging on for dear life!

In desperation, I go upside down in an attempt to appease the COUCH MONSTER!

Is it working? Is it working???

Life is very hard for little brown dogs.

Note from The Girl: Hah! If this is an example of how hard life is for Dannan, then you can all rest easy! He likes to perch on the back cushion of the couch like the Min Pins do, but he is significantly larger than they are. And he also likes to paw at the cushions until they start to fall off the couch, then wedge himself in between the back of the couch and whatever cushions are left. Life is indeed hard! LOL.

A Week at the Grandparents'

So, while I was running around like a lunatic getting ready for the Kamloops SPCA's Paws for a Cause Walk for the Animals, Dannan and I were also house sitting for my parents. My mom and dad positively dote on Dannan. Often, if I drop by to visit them, the first thing they say to me is, "Where's Dannan? Didn't you bring Dannan?" Good thing I know they love me best, right? LOL.

This summer, my parents re-fenced their backyard. For Dannan. Did I ever mention that he is a Very Spoiled Dog???

These pictures are actually from the first day we visited after the fence was up, the first day he was in their yard without a long line or leash. The pics are a few months old at this point. There are no pictures from this last week, and Dannan says that we all know who is to blame for that!

Check out the tongue action!

Gotta scratch when you got an itch, right?

Surveying his new kingdom...

I just thought this shot was funny.

He's heard something... At one point, he looked at me with an expression (which I didn't catch, dammit!) that said, Hey, Girl, did you know there's different sounds here?

He's a pretty happy boy. It doesn't take much, which is a lesson I'm constantly striving to take to heart from him!

Another spot he was trying out...

Dog in motion.... Please don't look at the peeling paint on the garage!

We had a great week over at my parents' house, but it's also good to be home. Dannan has his Pins, his Cat TV, and his own yard (which he had to check immediately, of course). And the birds here are different than at Mom and Dad's - lots more here to chase, although he did a great job with the crows over there!

And just a last note... We raised over $31,000 for our local branch of the BCSPCA this past weekend! It was an awesome day!

Pee Ess We are going to slowly catch up on our comments and blogs over the next few days, and tomorrow, we will unveil the award Mango gave us (a really long time ago!)!

Shelter dogs -- the original "designer dogs"! Make the SPCA your first adoption option!

Min Pin Roundup

I happened to mention on my other blog, The Muse Asylum, that I live with two Min Pins. One of my readers (OMG, I can't believe that I have READERS!) asked for some pictures, as she used to live with a Min Pin, too. So I posted a long post about Lexi and Khavana; if you'd like to see it, just go here. I don't know an easy way to post it over here, sorry!
